Falken Mountain Lodge is a privately owned 90 m² mountain home in Björnen, Åre, with three separate bedrooms for up to six guests. It suits hiking groups and families who want a quiet base, drying facilities, their own kitchen and a sauna after day trips in the Åre mountains. Outside the ski season you can book from two nights.

Hiking in and from Björnen

Björnen sits in the eastern part of the Åre valley, with the mountain close by and a far quieter setting than Åre village. From the area you are quickly out in forest and mountain terrain.

Exactly which trails start where, and how they are marked, changes over time. We therefore list no routes we have not checked – use the official maps below when planning your day.

Day trips on and around Åreskutan

Åreskutan is the landmark of the valley and the starting point for most day trips in the area. Many combine a mountain walk with a visit to Åre village.

Lift opening hours vary during the green season. Always check current status with SkiStar before planning a trip that relies on a lift.

Family-friendly walks and longer days

With three separate bedrooms the house works for families with children as well as two or three couples hiking at different paces.

Shorter forest walks near Björnen suit families and rest days; experienced hikers take longer days in mountain terrain. Plan length and difficulty from the official trail descriptions – we make no safety or weather assessments of our own.

Late summer and autumn

Late summer and autumn bring clear air, colour in the birch forest and far fewer people on the trails. Evenings turn darker and cooler – which is when the fireplace and sauna come into their own.

When the weather turns

Rainy days are solved with a full kitchen, drying facilities, sauna, fire and fast Wi-Fi. Åre village is within reach for restaurants and indoor activities – see the destination information below for what is open.
